The songs in this collection were selected during a time of the band’s re-gouping, just before Aaron was asked to be a member. What started as a project to record some demo material in a live capture of Kelly, Dan and Mark’s on-stage energy became a surprisingly tasteful outcome. The recordings inspired us to re-mix several in a tracked format so as to include Aaron’s exceptional playing and new membership. While many of the songs are stock and trade with any bluegrass band, others are not so well known. Thy Burdens Are Greater Than Mine comes from the early Stanley Brothers, a duet seldom heard anymore. Some Old Da-; is a Flatt & Scruggs song that Kelly has breathed fresh air into its old soul, and FoWJ Mountain Top, though rarely performed, \NOn Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys the audition to the Opry. Kelly’s Big Rock Stands is a poetic homily to Spokane’s Rocks of Sharon’ s most prominent feature. As the Browns’ Mountain Boys forges its distinctive sound around the duet and trio harmonies, listen for new and exciting things to come from their instrumental arrangements. With Dan holding down the rhythm guitar role, Aaron steps forward to take the lead on fiddle and mandolin. Dan Gore has been playing bluegrass music in Spokane since the mid-80’s, and Kelly Bogan caught the bluegrass spirit in the mid 90’s. Mark Harding is another veteran performer on bass and has been active in both rock/country and bluegrass settings . The multi-talented Aaron Castillo joined Kelly, Dan and Mark later in 2013 to fill out the instrumental duties of the band.
